Former 101 KLOL DJ Chuck Akers announced he is now the 7pm to midnight weekend jock for The Eagle 106.9/107.5 KHPT-KGLK Houston.
Akers joins Outlaw Dave who is now hosting mornings on The Eagle.
In the past, Akers has written that he learned how to do radio from the likes of Stevens and Pruett at KLOL starting back in 1993.
After KLOL, Akers co-hosted the Country Legends 97.1 KTHT morning show with Dan Gallo. Gallo wrote “Akers was a terrific newsman who could get even the most complex news stories across concisely with an entertaining edge. We worked so well, together, we could almost finish each other’s sentences.”
He also hosted “Community Houston,” a public affairs program that featured interviews with local leaders and organizations.
Akers and Gallo left KTHT in September 2021. Country Legends 97.1 signed off the air later in 2023.
In addition to his broadcasting work, Akers serves as the Gulf Region Director of the United States Parachute Association (USPA).
